Welcome to the official blog of the CNMI "Size Matters" Campaign, which aims to promote sustainable fishing by catching or eating fish only after they have reached their L50 size, or the size at which they begin to reproduce. This is one way we can work to ensure there will be enough fish for all of us tomorrow.

Posters Now Available!

Our L50 posters are now available at CRM, DEQ, and DFW!  Stop by and grab one.  The posters will also be available at your local fishing stores by the end of the week.

The posters show the most commonly caught reef fish here in the CNMI painted to the exact size at which they become reproductive, or begin to have babies (as research so far has shown, see our section here ).  Catching or eating fish above the painted size can help to ensure that we all have fish to catch tomorrow.

We had a great first event at the Saipan Spearfishing Tournament on June 25th.  Several of the Size Matters team members were present, handing out rulers and posters to all of the participants as well as spectators.  Additionally, all participants received an official Size Matters T-shirt and the fisherman with the largest fish of the day received a custom ice chest.

We'll be giving out many T-shirts and ice chests over the next several months, so check back to stay up to date on our events and contests.
